  • Thea Wray has led the worship team at Rye Lane Chapel in Peckham since 2004, and brings her own arrangements and original worship songs inspired by her own journey of faith. The music for her latest release -‘ The Solid Rock’ , an old hymn, was written back in 2008 and though sung in her church over the years, has just been recorded according to God’s timing. This song states that Our Hope is in God - He is our Rock.

Thea Wray is a classically trained pianist, a jazz musician, a composer and author. a retired primary school teacher, worship leader. and most importantly a Christian. She was encouraged to playing for church services and choirs at Bethel Baptist Church in Kingston as a young teenager. Baptised at Bethel Baptist Church in Kingston in  December 1974 by Rev Burchell Taylor, Thea’s faith has sustained her through many personal challenges. She and husband Kingsley felt led to 

relocate the family to London in 2000. They made their home in Peckham and were welcomed by the Rye Lane Chapel on Rye Lane,  and have worshipped there ever since. Thea has led the worship team since 2004, and brings her own arrangements and original worship songs inspired by her own journey with Jesus. Thea has written worship songs and devotions and reflections before, during and since lockdown. These have been her lifeline which she has shared in face to face and online worship. many of her songs are available on CCLI and on Youtube. She has birthed two worship song books and a cantata so far, and is working on her third volume of worship songs. She has gathered her writings over the years, and especially during the Covid outbreak,  to spread hope through God’s Word during very challenging and uncertain times.
