DjSweepie born in the 60s, has always been a lover of great music, the favorite years being the 70s and 80s.
I loved the soul groups of the 70s, some of my favorites were The Stylistics, The Manhattans, Gladys Knight and the pips, The Chi-Lites and more. I remember if I wasn’t walking to the shops with my ghetto box, I was sitting on the front step singing along to every word. Who remembers those summers. When I was older, I started playing the music for my dad’s parties using the small home set with a Trio amp 120wts and a pair of Goodman’s RB35 speakers. I guess I got the bug. Some great memories were going to Third World Records in Tottenham and GG Records by the bus stop Stamford Hill, those days a 12-inch vinyl was £1:00.
I had a love for radio and wanted to be on air like so ..many that I listened to for many years like Tony Williams, David Rodigan, Greg Edwards, Robbie Vincent, Tony Blackburn and more. The chance came when I was given a late-night show on SLR north London (graveyard Shift 3-6) playing Lovers Rock, Rare Groove and Revival. I was a minicab controller, so I would finish in the early hours and head to the studio to do my show, great humble beginnings.
I was baptized on Christmas day 1994 and life changed.
That September I filled the spirit, I spent time in the church choir and learned about worship and faith. I also discovered gospel music and so added it to my shows. The funny thing is over the years I realized I had music and did not know it was gospel. Wow.
My love for gospel music is strong, my favorite genres are Worship and Reggae Gospel. I love to hear those who are anointed for worship. I say to you if you ever go through challenges and feel low just listen to some worship.
In life there has been tests and trials some physical, but God has always been good😊 Ecc 9:11 Psalm 34:1
The word tells us to every season there is a purpose Ecc 3:1 I have been off radio for a time but find myself extremely blessed and grateful to have been asked to join this awesome platform that is Gtracks Radio where there are so many who are great at what they do, I am humbled.
I would love to build a Gospel Flava’s Show Family and invite you all to join by accepting this invitation.
I will be with you on Sunday evening.
