Psalm 67 begins with the priestly blessing of Numbers 6:24-26, where the shining face is the equivalent to our contemporary smile of approval. There are at least 17 different ways of praising God given in this Psalm. Plus it is evident here that God’s intent was never for just one nation to know and enjoy Him, but for all peoples and nations.

The Aaronic Blessing (“The LORD bless you and keep you…”) was spoken into a world full of fear, scarcity, danger, and instability. It wasn’t a blessing for peaceful times. It was a wilderness blessing.

Psalm 67 is a blessing for:

• people under pressure
• nations in transition
• communities facing uncertainty
• individuals wrestling with fear

That is why it resounds so powerfully as we proclaim it today! Psalm 67 has a heart to see God’s way, God’s salvation, and God’s praise extended through all the earth.
